Get the right style advice
Preparing for an open home? Avoid the mistakes people often make by following some sage style advice from the team at 2 Mad Sisters.
Executive officer Sam Cook says when putting your house on the market to consider bringing more brightness into living and entertaining areas.
“Too often people select neutraltoned furniture and paint the walls white,” Sam says.
“They’re then surprised to feel nothing when entering the room. Colour and light are what gives feeling to a room — don’t be afraid to use it and enjoy it.”
When maximising space in a smaller living room, be smart when selecting furniture.
“People often try to squeeze too much into the room,” Sam says.
“If you’re finding it difficult to fit in all of your favourite books and DVDs, there are many storage solutions to help avoid clutter.”
Sam says that while preparing a house for sale is a tricky business, seeking out a professional stylist can add thousands to the final sale price. “And the service is not as expensive as you may think,” she says.
